On another note (which are the greatest things!) today is / was the day that some of Finlands cities spend celebrating a thing called Venetsialaiset. I don't really know where it all started and how far it has spread, but the basic idea is to put an end to the whole summer cottage season. With a bunch of shebang!
My parents aren't excactly jumping with glee, when someone mentions the term "fireworks", so I always have to - basically - make them to drive me around the streets, that possess such beauty only once a year.
They were paved with yellow and red lights (my parents, yeah), candles and ALL SORTS OF THINGS. Devotion is the word of the day! After a while of silent sitting, we stopped on a bridge and stepped out of the car.
Some people preferred to stay hidden in their automobiles, to shelter from the GREAT BBBBBOOOOOOOOMM BAAANNGGG KAPOWWWWWs that echoed throughout the lake. My dad was one of them. And so was Ossi who spent the evening trembling and shaking and barking. 8D
So, the bright lights and loud noises might not be their cracker, but I know Luu and Joe would appreciate the inssssaaaaaane beauty. 8u8 Let's just hope next years weather will be as good as it was today (the slight coldness, frozen fingertips and chills down your spine are a part of the tradition!).
The lights were indeed too damn pretty, there too. The same ol' reds now reflected from the calm surface of the water, bonfires were set on the tiny stumps of land, and LOUD FIREWORKS lit the sky up with every colour of the rainbow, plus some new ones, that were so beautiful, I fell to my knees and cried.
